CYPRUS, Nicosia 15 of July 2014,

In the cemetery of Ayios Constantinos and Elenis but in separate sections are buried citizens,

soldiers and police officers were killed during the 1974 coup aimed at union (Enosis) with Greece, the morning of 15th of July 1974 were battles, against Cypriot Greek Orthodox Archbishop and president Makarios at the Presidential Palace.

Today Greek Cypriot officials “Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, Cypriot Greek Orthodox Archbishop Chrysostomos II,

members from political parties and families of soldiers and police officers killed during the 1974 coup, attends at the ceremony

Another black anniversary, a holiday memory, forgetfulness and political agenda

sirens sound in the city, a rehearsal and a backdrop of very bad director

The focus for an hour, the graves, two words, wreaths, relatives, politicians.

40 years passed much to remember and so little for the pain

I do not know what happened and probably Ι will not ever know

Officially???? History always is written by the victors

behind the scene so many rumors, more mutterings and murmurings, the people say, say a lot,

I really do not know,

once the story will be rewritten, there are gaps, I wish to look more like the truth that the dead be vindicated, need for them,

we do not need it … we prove it daily, do not read the story, not taught, so make the same mistakes

exactly the same, bet as self harm

Two separate rooms in the same cemetery, Two different ceremonies, two memorial services away from each other,

twice the national anthem, for perpetrators and for victims,

ones … and those ….. did….. they know,

God rest their souls..

they know …..

I am absolute, because I speak on behalf of my daughter

My favorite place for relaxation that combines for me the relaxed cafe and for my daughter playground, was,

and unfortunately I say was, Park Prodromou was,

because the Nicosia Municipality 4 months ago decided to remove the swings and slides

from this little paradise, this small oasis in the city for many parents, couples, students etc

The time we went to ride, the children’s games has disappeared, Mr. Nikos who is the soul of this park, helpless tries to explain and he hoped that it will quickly be replaced

I say soul, Nikos because before installed in the park with modest refreshment stand all of the surrounding space was inside the trash, a perfect place for “illegal couples” and drug addicts

I do not know who is the mastermind but he must have some grand plan in his mind,

because you do not destroy a playground, a little paradise for children and adults,

if you don’t have something ambitious to do???

Otherwise if you do it without a plan and schedule, then you have no mind or you are unable to work for the social good.

Group of People I respect

After a very long period of silence, I decide to show again the things I love,

all the things that makes me proud and happy

I collect some pictures from the project I’ve started months before with the “Volunteers doctors”

I visit them many times and I saw their try, their mood,

for me they are gentlemen and ladies, they are humans and they won my respect

In this health system, if you don’t have money you might die somewhere in the dark of your life.

I congratulate them and I am thankfull for our meetings and for their existance

Forbidden

…..(as if, the Google maps does not exist?)

…..In the middle, memories, cheking Points, uniforms undercover and indifferent, diplomacy, strange looks, games, forces

……..the years go by, maybe sometime soon or later, they might change the signs to follow a more modern version of the forbidden

Summer schools

Today was a very special day for me…
I was in a swimming pool in Nicosia having fun with these “unique dolphins” and their “trainer”.
I feel lucky and blessed to have met this extraordinary professional who will assist me
on my next “project” and in the process of doing that …have fun with yours trully at the same time…..
Cant wait to be in the pool again follow and play with all these wild creatures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another day with a committee, experts speak and consider, the time goes by, the institutions of the state is in order, assured we can now rest and relax, custodians will solve the problems with such solemnity the democracy works, no problem
(usually, when we hear NO PROBLEM the battle begins, dropping bombs, people run to escape…..)
I learned it in Bosnia saying “nema problema”,
I saw it in Greece saying “κανένα πρόβλημα”,
Ι hear it now and here saying “no problem”, every day and almost in every committee

Lucky moments

In one of the most famous streets internationally, for the check point to occupied Cyprus,
for the battles that took place there a few years ago and now on its market value,
yesterday night a young group gave meaning and sound to passers
Two bouzoukis, a guitar, great voices, vivid youth, dancing, a little beer, a little crazy and it was great, they broke the monotony and routine of somewhat fashion street

The show must go on…

Walking through the centuries

The whole human history there is in a museum.
The Museum of Cyprus, you in your first steps there and while you have no sooner put the ticket in your pocket, you enter the Stone Age and transferred through the time machine exhibits until the Byzantine period,
you really feel and wander on centuries heritage of this little dismayed by the economic crisis island of about 800,000 inhabitants.
What a great weapon in the hands of rulers for advertising this historical island
