MAY 2017 in Cyprus

Without words I’ll start a small photographic presentation of every last month, as the wind through the moments and made them history – no forgotten history –

These are the selection from the snapshots I did, according mostly from accidental events, professional shots and my walks around the streets

I decided to do this every month as a small appreciation for the people and the moments were smiled to me !!

And you let her go …

Every day I am surprised from this unique little human being
I am still having her in my mind, when she was so small, so fragile, a baby
She is still my baby but …
the years run and the time is not like Pinelope (wife of famous Odyssea) doesn’t waiting for you.
Nope never
so one day you are looking the mirror and the faces are different

When I heard this song I felt as if I ate cuff…..
and you let her go…… you let her flying

I have no words to express myself, to describe the pictures or my emotions and I really I don’t want to do it.
The only thing that I know is that I went to Lesvos island to cover the arrival of the refugees with suspicious thoughts about them and after just one day I started “seeing” in several boats my daughter, my wife and myself

Children who stayed behind

The deplorable living conditions of the enclaved Cypriot’s can be demonstrated by the simple recounting of their numbers following the Turkish invasion of 1974.
In July of that year the Greek Cypriot population of the area presently occupied by the Turkish army was 162,000. By the time the second phase of the Turkish invasion had been completed, in August 1974, 142,000 Cypriots were expelled or forced to flee, leaving 20,000, mostly in the Karpas peninsula (Report S/11488 of the UNSG to the Security Council dated 4 September 1974).
During the next four months, another 5,000 were forced to leave, resulting in a reduction of the Greek Cypriot population of the occupied area by 91% (Report S/11568, 6 December 1974, para. 43).
According to the latest report of the Secretary General to the Security Council this number has diminished to 427 Greek Cypriots and 165 Maronites (S/1122, 30 November 2001, para. 8).
The situation today seems better the enclaved are almost 350 people, the students in school of Rizokarpaso are only 19
On 24 of June in the school parents, students and official guests celebrated the closing ceremony of the school year

Congratulations

For the very first time in Cyprus history, a blind student take part in the National parade with his teacher

CYPRUS-LIMASSOL-NATIONAL PARADE-BLIND STUDENT Andreas Solomou, 17-year-old blind student CYPRUS-LIMASSOL-NATIONAL PARADE-BLIND STUDENT Aggelos Aggelidis, his teacher

_MAR1511 CYPRUS-LIMASSOL-NATIONAL PARADE-BLIND STUDENT

When I read the news that a blind student will take part in the national parade I thought:

bravo to the lad

but when I went there to cover photographically the parade, I was not expecting that I would feel such emotion,

_MAR1570 _MAR1621

perhaps because everybody who watched the parade as you could believe that they he had gone only for Andreas.

Permanently applause and the world urges to Andreas touched by his effort.

Professor (Angelos Angelidis) that since last October helped this venture, begged me not to take pictures and that’s because there were even negative reactions, he told me sad that they said

that he do it for self-promotion

I asked Andreas why?, (why always there)

. he told me that he wanted this experience and why

. he wants to tell the whole world that everything can be done as long as you try,

. he wanted to tell people with disabilities to dare,

and finally how tired he is because almost every day people faced him like being sick

Andreas made me smile

Andreas inspire me

Andreas and this kind of people they are leaders and not followers

We need them

_FEB1185 _FEB1146 _FEB0026 _FEB0043

If the criterion of success for an event are laughing and playing, then the success is undeniable

_FEB0885 _FEB0600

In recent years the foolproof metrisis scoop for me is the children and especially, my daughter

and has proved to me, without having to have special skills (analysis, measurements, surveys etc.)

that children are the toughest critics, without having any social Behaviour criteria

_FEB0731 _FEB0739

_FEB0852 _FEB0903

So I asked my daughter: “Have fun;;;”

I got no answer was dipped in confetti, soiled hands

and a laugh (Gosh this laughter)

_FEB0473 _FEB0286

At night the house was quiet, calm, would you say empty, my little sleeping, motionless (no entreaties and no constraint) and occasionally “snoring”.

_FEB0699 _FEB0719

_FEB0658 _FEB0398

This morning, within the spirit and joy, telling me without pausing her yesterday’s adventures …….

_FEB0416 _FEB0199

Yes, my baby had a good time …

_FEB0388 _FEB0370

The carnival succeeded :)

_FEB1013 _FEB0991

Well done, bravo, congratulations to all those who are tired and not unjustly,

_FEB0976 _FEB1128

next year (to us by God well) I will “get dressed”, I gonna let myself and I will playing

Family project

Before a few days I decided to edit and (as soon is possible because of the thousand of pictures I have) to show in public the project I’ ve started years before when I realized that I will be father.

For myself was and be, a “Life term project” and maybe because all are centered from her smile and her innocent love

Four and half years with almost daily shootings (like someone who found the true meaning of life)

I started changing my theory of life

FAmily_01

.I started adding the pink color everywhere even if till now I don’t understand why is so unique for girls

.I started seeing her mother and my wife with different eyes full of love, respect, patience and passion (even if sometimes I want to “scream”: FREEDOM and run again far far away to any war field exist in this poor planet

.I am waiting the unique moments were all together (mainly the nights) we gathered and see stupid TV episodes

…. and many more small details, part of my life.

I have the knowledge that, these moments, one day will be only in my memory,

you can’t keep the time, the circle of life.

Even now the time is past and as I read years before in Matala, Crete were Hippies in 70th gathered in the caves there: Today is life tomorrow never comes
